Learn to draw from imagination by simplifying.

Testimonials

Blondie - Aspiring artist

Before this course, I had no clear process for designing poses from imagination. Now I can actually invent poses instead of copying them, without needing anatomy knowledge.

Alice - Aspiring artist

The methods are clearly explained and easy to follow. It starts with simple exercises and builds up gradually, so I was never lost, and I finally see figures in terms of flow and rhythm.

Spyridon - Aspiring Artist

I was always told to "draw for fun," but I never could. A few lessons in, the way this course approaches character, emotion and story broke a mental block I'd had for ten years.

How I finally learned to draw from imagination

Ever since I could hold a pen, I wanted to draw from imagination. It felt impossible.

So I did what everyone recommends: study anatomy, perspective, proportions and what not.

And I improved. But when I tried to draw from imagination?

I froze.

Because drawing from imagination isn’t about mastering one fundamental. It’s about combining them, at the same time.

That’s what we train here.

So you can stop studying parts, and start constructing scenes from imagination.

Testimonials

Anissa - Aspiring Artist

Alex gives gentle but constructive feedback whenever I ask for it, and the community is friendly and supportive, a safe space to learn and share. I'm really happy I joined.

Jeroen - Relationship Coach

Even in as little as 5 days, I've made huge progress in my gesture drawing. I used to hate looking at my gestures; with Alex's stick figures they finally look good.

How the membership is structured.

Drawing from imagination means combining fundamentals. In the DFIA you’ll learn to do exactly that with each level getting progressively harder. Each phase rests on the one before it, making your journey visible. Then there are two tracks that run through each phase.

Build is the technical side. You’ll use different figures to feel comfortable with different fundamentals like proportions, flow, form etc. The focus in these lessons is for your figures to feel alive while slowly adding realism.

Create is where you use it. Same phase, but now you're making something, a character, a scene, anything.
Here you’ll learn composition, use perspective and turn your ideas into visual stories.

The two run in parallel because that's the only way either one sticks. Technique you never spend turns into drills you resent, and expression without technique stalls the moment the drawing gets hard.

Phase 1 - 2D Figures & Stories

Master dynamic poses through gesture, then turn those figures into characters and place them inside visual stories. Clarity before detail.

Phase 2 - 2.5D Figures & Worlds

Add depth with ribbon figures: flow, overlap, and direction in space. Step into isometric perspective and learn to build one-page visual stories.

Phase 3 - 3D Construction & Perspective

Full constructive drawing with one- and two-point perspective, so you can place any figure, at any angle, in a believable scene. Volume is what makes it convincing.

Phase 4 - 3D+ The Mannequin

The payoff: simplify the real human figure into a constructive mannequin you can build and pose entirely from imagination.

And the lesson library keeps growing. You get access to everything from day one, new lessons are added as members move through, and when enough people get stuck in the same place, that becomes the next lesson. The structure is there to guide you, not to lock you in.
